It’s On! Dare to Get Dirty 17

Woo-Hoo! It’s time for the week long Dare to Get Dirty challenges over on SCS! It’s super fun and there are some great prizes at the end of the week. But you gotta be in it to win it! Stop on over and join in…click here to go right to the Dare to Get Dirty forum…new challenges will be posted daily and boy, are there some fun ones.  I’ve got two coming up…one tomorrow and another on Tuesday so I hope you’ll join in.

Here are a few of the cards I made for today’s challenges.  This first card is for Sandee’s (a.k.a stampersandee) DTGD challenge, I started by swiping Distress Oxide inks in Wilted Violet, Worn Lipstick and Iced Spruce onto a piece of acetate, spritzed with water and smooshed onto watercolor paper. Once I was satisfied with the results, I stenciled over the top with Iced Spruce Distress Oxide ink. The sentiment was stamped with regular distress ink (Wilted Violet) first, then I went back over it with the Distress Oxide ink…using the MISTI which really came in handy. The cute shades were cut from mirrored silver cardstock using a MFT die.  Added a few Nuvo Crystal Drops to finish it off.

My next card is a sample I made for Bev’s (TexasGrammy’s) challenge. The colorful strip started out as an entire A2 card front (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″). I heat embossed the triangle pattern (Simon Says Stamp Abstract Triangles background stamp) using Hero Arts white embossing powder then filled in each triangle with watercolors purposely overlapping the colors to achieve additional colors and triangles.  It was a little overpowering left as it so I cut it into a strip and left quite a bit of white space.

I also made a sample card for Dina’s (a.k.a. dini) challenge today. I first made a background (A2) by gluing strips of different patterned pieces from Echo Park’s Happy Days collection. When I had all the strips in place where I wanted them, I then cut bigger strips using MFT’s Horizontal Stitched Strips dienamics to form my background. I wanted the fun, colorful pattern to be the star of the show so I kept things simple by just adding a framed sentiment.
