My boss of sixteen years has decided to retire. While I am super happy for him, I can’t help but also feel a little sad. It’s going to be so different without him at work every day. We threw him a party at work last week and I made him this card to accompany the new golf bag we got him. He’s got a good sense of humor and I knew he’d appreciate this snarky little quip. I used the fun Clocked Out Grumpling set from Taylored Expressions. Mike (my boss) is a huge NC State fan which is why I used red and black. By the way, the golf bag we got him was also red with black trim so the card actually matched the bag too.
To create the background, I started by smearing Distress ink onto a craft mat, spritzed with a little water, then placed the watercolor paper directly on top of the ink. It’s a very quick and effective way to create an artsy-watercolored-looking background. I colored the Grumpling cat with Copic markers and die cut him along with an oval diecut (MFT) and adhered him to the card. Just added a strip of black and white striped paper along the bottom to finish it off. Easy peasy.
