Yes I Can-Can!

Today I’m sharing a card I made for this week’s SCS Teapot Challenge MMTPT457 which called for dancers or a dancing related theme.

Can Can MMTPT457I pulled out this Kraftin’ Kimmie cutie; I thought of her as soon as I read the challenge. I love coloring this image but I wanted to do something different this time so I decided to try coloring on a black background instead of my usual white. I have to say I love the way it turned out.

The image was stamped on MFT Black Licorice cardstock using Memento ink in  Desert Sand. It was kind of hard to see the exact lines but I could see enough of the basic outlines to trace and lightly outline the sections with a white Prismacolor pencil. I used Prismacolor pencils to color in each section (i.e. the head, legs, dress, feather, etc.) separately which kept it from getting overwhelming. Trust me when I say it was hard to see the lines. 😉 I added a darker shade to add a little depth and used the white pencil again to make the dress look really ruffly. Overall, the dress ruffles came out more as I envisioned them to look with the pencils vs. Copics. I think the white really adds to the look of the layers.

This card will be heading to a fellow teapotter once I find out where to send it this weekend. I hope my teapot friend likes this little dancer as much as I do.

Challenge x3

It’s the end of another week and I’m winding down. Back to the grind tomorrow. The weatherman got it wrong today…instead of 85 and sunny it turned out to be 70 (maybe) and cool AND RAINY! It poured rain all night and a good portion of the morning. It was okay though because we had no plans to go out and I did get some new goodies in the mail over the weekend. Perfect day to hang in my craft room and play.  I did make a few cards including a few challenge cards.

I’ll start with a card for the Color Throwdown Challenge ctd439. This week’s colors are: Red, Orange, Purple and Yellow. The bouquet in the challenge photo is gorgeous!

This was one of the new stamp sets I got…it’s called Message in a Bottle from Create a Smile Stamps. Aren’t those little germs cute? I colored the image with Copics then fussy cut the bottle and covered it with SU! Crystal Effects. I used a memory box stencil to add some color before adhering the bottle with foam tape.

Products used: (cardstock) MFT Smooth White, Daffodil, Bristol; (stamps) Create a Smile: Message in a Bottle; (ink) MFT Red Hot, Daffodil, MFT Orange Zest, Black Licorice; (misc.) Crystal Effects, Stencil (Memory Box), MFT Dienamics, foam tape

Next up is a card I made for Freshly Made Sketches FMS284.

FMS284Products used: (cardstock) MFT Kraft, Tangy Orange, Black Licorice, Kraft Collection Solids & stripes 6×6; (stamps) MFT: You Give Me Butterflies, Beautiful Butterflies; (ink) MFT Black Licorice, Tangy Orange; (misc.) MFT Dienamics, foam tape, Wink of Stella

Lastly, I made a card for the Casual Fridays color challenge CFC172: Pink, Navy and White.

I used SU! markers to color in the letters. The MISTI makes it super easy to change the letter colors. I also used my MISTI to stamp the bottom half of the sentiment on a curve.

Products used: (cardstock) MFT Smooth White, After Midnight, Razzleberry, The Paper Studio DSP; (stamps) Casual Fridays: Shenanigans, MFT Make a Wish; (ink) SU! Markers: Pixie Pink, Ballet Blue, Pink Passion, Night of Navy; (misc.) MFT Dienamics, foam tape, Wink of Stella, Versamark, White Embossing Powder (Hero Arts)

I’ve got a couple more cards to share this week so hope you’ll stop by to take a peek.

Food Fight!

Hi there. Happy weekend. I’ve had a busy week and have just been loafing all weekend. Then tomorrow, I get to do it all again. Insert a sarcastic “yay!” here.     I haven’t had time to do many challenge cards in the last week (or two) but I did manage to make a card for the 3/28/17 Teapot Challenge MMTPT453 on Splitcoast. Polly was the hostess of our virtual slumber party. And, what’s a slumber party without junk food?! That’s what I’m “bringing” to this shindig.

Food for Teapot TickleI used the adorable Funny Food set from Simon Says Stamp. It’s one of my current favorites. Love their little faces – they make me happy. For this card, I used three of the food images which I colored with Copics cut out with the coordinating dies. I popped them up with foam tape on top of a shaker panel. I sent this card off to a fellow teapotter to “tickle” them.  I hope she likes it.

By the way, these little foodies work perfectly and look great with the little action wobblers too.   They’re easy to use and add a little fun to your card. It gives them a little “BOING”.  Just remove the adhesive and adhere one side of the wobbler to your image then adhere the other side to your card. Easy peasy. Here’s a card I made using a wobbler with the French fries from the Funny Foods stamp set:

Kind Fries I colored the French fries with Copics, cut it out and adhered it to the card with a wobbler. The sentiment comes from Uplifting Thoughts stamp set, also by Simon Says Stamp. I sent this card to Jennifer Timko for graciously helping me with a couple of blog issues I was having. She is such a sweetie and I appreciate her taking time out of her busy schedule to help me.

Hope you all have a wonderful week.
