Under the Sea

Hey there…just popping in with a quick post and a card I made for Outside the Box Challenge #22. The challenge this time was to use ribbons in a card or project.

Under the Sea Outside the Box

I created a background using Distress Oxide inks on Bristol (smooth) paper. The black forefront panel was cut using Memory Box’s Ocean Swell die. I wanted it to look like we were deep under the sea looking at silhouettes of all the sea creatures. I added a little gingham ribbon bow and some clear sequins to finish it off.

Well, that all for now. Thanks for stopping by.

Products used: (cardstock) MFT Smooth White, Black Licorice, Strathmore Bristol (smooth); (ink) Distress Oxide: Wilted Violet, Cracked Pistachio, Broken China; Memory Box Die: Ocean Swell; ribbon, sequins

A Case of the Mondays

Happy Monday!? Personally, I think that’s an oxymoron. Unless, of course, you’re on vacation and it happens to be Monday, or you don’t have to get up for work or be anywhere in particular. Then, I guess Monday would be like any other day. But for me, Monday is probably my least favorite day of the week. Sorry, Monday.

But, on a brighter note, Monday kicks off a week of new challenges. Over at Lawn Fawn they recently announced their new challenge blog, Lawn Fawnatics. March is Lawn Fawn’s birthday month so their first challenge has a birthday theme. I jumped in and created this little cutie…

Lawnfawnatics #1I combined a couple of stamp sets to create this birthday shaker card. I used the little octopus from Lawn Fawn’s Critters of the Sea and the presents from Year Five. I also used the balloon and party hat from a Hero Arts set called Party Time. I did some masking to make it look like the octopus was holding the balloons and added the presents with some other shaker elements. The images were colored with Copic markers.  I used Lawn Fawn’s Perfectly Plaid paper too…aren’t those colors just dreamy? Happy Birthday Lawn Fawn! And, many more!

Products used: (cardstock) MFT Summer Splash, Sweet Tooth, Lawn Fawn 6×6: Perfectly Plaid, MFT 6×6 Dots & Stripes Sorbet, (stamps) Lawn Fawn (Critters of the Sea, Year Five), Hero Arts (Party Time), MFT; MFT dienamics, Copic Markers, Foam Tape, Glitter, MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink

Color Throwdown and FMS Challenge Cards

Hi, I’m back with another post for today…this time I’m adding a card for the Color Throwdown Challenge #435. This week’s colors are: Turquoise, Yellow, and Orange.

CASE CTDI used a combination of patterned paper and stamped images in the challenge colors. I cut 1-inch by 1-inch squares and arranged them in a grid. This is not my design but one I CASED from Splitcoaststamper mschatzma.  Here is her card that I cased:

The Free-For-All Challenge at Splitcoaststampers this week was to CASE a card that we had saved in our favorites folder. I had mschatzma’s card saved for quite a while. The grid patterns and detail on the individual squares caught my eye. My card is similar in theme and style but mine is not quite as tidy…I didn’t have a grid die and hand cut the tiles so my little squares are a bit off kilter.

Products used: (cardstock) MFT Smooth White, Kraft, Graphic 45 6×6: Voyage Beneath the Sea; (stamps) Avery Elle (The Reef); Versamark, Embossing Powder, Twine, Starfish Charm

I almost forgot I also have a card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #280.  I’ve got Spring fever (again) so I went with a springy theme for this one.

Rainy SpringI paper pieced the umbrella with a cute plaid from Lawn Fawn’s Perfectly Plaid 6×6 pad.

Products used: (cardstock) MFT Smooth White, PTI Spring Rain, Blueberry, Lawn Fawn 6×6: Perfectly Plaid; (stamps) Penny Black (April Showers); MFT Hybrid Ink: Black Licorice, Foam Tape, Wink of Stella

Thanks for stopping by. I’ll have a couple more posts during the week so I hope you’ll check back.

Hello Bunny Friends

Just poppin’, or should I say “hoppin'” in to share a card today. Aren’t these bunnies (Mama Elephant) absolutely adorable?

Bunnies

I just got the yummy Distress Oxide inks last week and have been trying them out. I used a blending tool and Distress Oxide ink in Wilted Violet and Worn Lipstick on smooth Bristol paper to make this dreamy background. The ink blends so smoothly – I was able to blend it much better than regular Distress Inks. All the bunnies were stamped on Crafter’s Companion Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth Paper (SNUSP), colored with Copics and cut out with matching dies. The greeting was stamped using Versamark then heat embossed with gold embossing powder.

I am certain these Distress Inks will be getting much use. I will be keeping an eye out for the next set of colors to be released.

Until next time –
