Holiday Recovery – Happy New Year!

I didn’t realize it had been so long since I posted. I took a break during the holidays to absorb the festivities, travel, and just unwind. I finally made it back into my craft room and have been working on some Valentine cards. I’m starting off with a card I made using new MFT stamps and dies called I’m Owl Yours.

Owl Love

I paired it with a sentiment from an older MFT Pure Innocence mini called Owl Costume.  I followed MFT Sketch #316 and decided to play along in Splitcoast Stsampers’ weekly Color Challenge 618.

I’m going to try to participate in more challenges this year. AND I’m going to be more diligent with my blog and get on a regular schedule. I worked so hard to get it up and running so I owe it to myself to keep it active.  Happy New Year!

Have a Spooktacular Halloween

Monster Bash

BOO! I couldn’t resist these little creepies (aka Monster Mash) from Lawn Fawn. Aren’t they fun?! I paired them with MFT’s Grave Situation stamps and dienamics to create this spooky scene. I created the background Halloween sky by using blending tools and Distress Inks in Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, and Wilted Violet. I then splattered a little water and white Gesso with a small paintbrush to get the splotchy look. The headstones and little monsters were colored with Copic markers then arranged to create a fun scene. I just love it!

This week, I’m participating in SCS’s Mix-Ability MIX196 challenge and Simon Says Stamp’s Wednesday Challenge which was highlighting Lawn Fawn products. Thanks for stopping by and have a Happy Halloween!

Cheers to You

Cheers to you

Hi there! Today I have a card that I made using Avery Elle’s “The Man” stamp set and matching dies. Specifically, I used the beverage bottle that I made into beer bottles. I needed a masculine birthday card but this card could easily be adjusted for a teen boy (or girl) by adjusting the colors to make soda bottles.  The sentiment is from the “Celebrate Big” stamp set (retired) by My Favorite Things but it can easily be changed to fit the occasion.

I started out by stamping a row of bottles on a strip of MFT Smooth White cardstock. It’s a two-step process to stamp the bottles…first, I stamped the outline of the bottle using MFT Black Licorice hybrid ink, then I used a combination of Stampin’ Up! Crushed Curry and More Mustard ink to get different colors (or types) of beer.  I then stamped and die cut a few more bottles and adhered them (with foam dimensionals) in between the previously stamped bottles.  The white panel was then matted on MFT Steel Gray cardstock.

To create the background I sponged Crushed Curry and More Mustard ink onto watercolor paper then flicked water right over it to create the spots. I think it turned out kind of neat…looks like the beer in the bottles, doesn’t it? The sentiment was stamped using MFT Black Licorice hybrid ink then I matted the background panel onto Steel Gray cardstock and adhered it to a white card base. To finish it I just adhered the strip of bottles. I will definitely be making a few more of these to keep on hand.

Thanks for stopping by. Cheers!
