It’s Day 2! Dare to Get Dirty 2017

Welcome back for Day 2 of the Dare to Get Dirty Challenges on Splitcoaststampers. Today, I am hosting a challenge and it is a fun one! I gave you a sneak peak yesterday…here is the entire card I made for my challenge:

DTGD17jacquelineAAren’t these owls a hoot? (Pun intended) I can’t tell you all the details of my challenge because it’s kind of a secret for SCS Fan Club Mmebers but I will give you a few clues: my card was a combination of the color yellow, things with wings and sequins. wanna know more? Fly on over to SCS and play along. I’d love to add your card to my challenge gallery.

Here are a couple more cards I made for a couple other of today’s challenges…starting with the card I made for Lori’s (a.k.a. lmcaree) challenge. I used an image from one of my favorite stamp sets: Funny Foods from Simon Says Stamp. I just love the cute little images and punny sentiments.

Next is the card I made for Nancy’s (a.k.a. nwilliams6) challenge. I did very little stamping on this card…only the little tan panel behind the flip flops was stamped. Everything else is just patterned paper and the flip flops are chipboard. DTGD17nwilliams6There are a bunch of fun challenges posted today so be sure to go check them out. Here’s a sneak peek for one of tomorrow’s challenges:

Celebrate Freedom!

It’s been a long time. Phew! I’ve had a busy month (June). I had a wonderful visit from my adorable twin nieces who live in Colorado. I’ve just had busy weekends too (Father’s Day, Birthday’s, etc.) and haven’t had the time to post here or on Splitcoaststampers but I’m getting back on track now. I’m popping in quickly tonight to share a card I made recently for Independence Day. It was for SCS Teapot Challenge and I combined it with last Friday’s Mix-Ability challenge.

MMTPT466-MIX231

I started with a piece of watercolor paper and added various shades of blue Brushos spritzed with water. Once dried, I added spackle through a stencil to create the fireworks. Once that was dry I went in and added a few silver Nuvo glitter drops. I covered the bottom portion of the card with a panel that I cut from the NY skyline die-namic from MFT. This card wasn’t planned, it just sort of fell into place and I LOVE it!

Products used: (cardstock) MFT Black Licorice, After Midnight, Watercolor Paper; (stamps) Taylored Expressions, (misc.) Versamark, White Embossing Powder (Hero Arts), Nuvo Glitter Drops (silver), Echo Park Stencil (Fireworks), spackle, Brushos, MFT NYC Skyline Dienamics

Challenge x3

It’s the end of another week and I’m winding down. Back to the grind tomorrow. The weatherman got it wrong today…instead of 85 and sunny it turned out to be 70 (maybe) and cool AND RAINY! It poured rain all night and a good portion of the morning. It was okay though because we had no plans to go out and I did get some new goodies in the mail over the weekend. Perfect day to hang in my craft room and play.  I did make a few cards including a few challenge cards.

I’ll start with a card for the Color Throwdown Challenge ctd439. This week’s colors are: Red, Orange, Purple and Yellow. The bouquet in the challenge photo is gorgeous!

This was one of the new stamp sets I got…it’s called Message in a Bottle from Create a Smile Stamps. Aren’t those little germs cute? I colored the image with Copics then fussy cut the bottle and covered it with SU! Crystal Effects. I used a memory box stencil to add some color before adhering the bottle with foam tape.

Products used: (cardstock) MFT Smooth White, Daffodil, Bristol; (stamps) Create a Smile: Message in a Bottle; (ink) MFT Red Hot, Daffodil, MFT Orange Zest, Black Licorice; (misc.) Crystal Effects, Stencil (Memory Box), MFT Dienamics, foam tape

Next up is a card I made for Freshly Made Sketches FMS284.

Lastly, I made a card for the Casual Fridays color challenge CFC172: Pink, Navy and White.

I used SU! markers to color in the letters. The MISTI makes it super easy to change the letter colors. I also used my MISTI to stamp the bottom half of the sentiment on a curve.

Products used: (cardstock) MFT Smooth White, After Midnight, Razzleberry, The Paper Studio DSP; (stamps) Casual Fridays: Shenanigans, MFT Make a Wish; (ink) SU! Markers: Pixie Pink, Ballet Blue, Pink Passion, Night of Navy; (misc.) MFT Dienamics, foam tape, Wink of Stella, Versamark, White Embossing Powder (Hero Arts)

I’ve got a couple more cards to share this week so hope you’ll stop by to take a peek.

Slainte!

This brings a wish your way –
Good health, good luck, and happiness
For today and every day.

One of my dear friends is the stereotypical Catholic Irish(American) from Boston. I like hearing her stories…stories of when she was younger, stories of her family, and her visits to see her grandmother in Ireland. My friend loves her Irish heritage and she loves celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. We celebrated this weekend with the customary corned beef and cabbage (and, of course, Irish beer).  Slainte!

I managed to get a few cards done today even though I mostly sat and lolly-gagged in my craft room for a good part of the day…in my pajamas.  Sshhhh. First up I’ve got a green card to keep the St. Paddy’s day weekend going…

MFTWSC Shamrock

I didn’t really want to make a St. Patrick’s Day card but it was leaning that way so I kept the sentiment generic enough so I can send it anytime.

I used the colors from this week’s Color Throwdown CTD434:  Green, Black, and Gold

combined with the MFT sketch #324.

Products used: (cardstock) MFT Sweet Tooth, Elf Green, Sour Apple, watercolor paper; (stamps) MFT (Lucky, PI sentiment); MFT die-namics, Distress Inks, MFT Black Licorice hybrid ink, Wink of Stella

Next, I’ve got this springy card…

No Line Crocus

Growing up in Buffalo, NY, the crocus peeking up through the snow was always a sign that Spring was just around the corner. So what better image to use for a spring challenge?

This was my first attempt at no line coloring. I stamped the image using Memento Desert Sand ink then colored the image with ZIG clear color brush markers – the verdict is still out on them. I’ve had them for a while but I don’t know that I really like them all that much.

I combined two challenges for this card:

  1. Adding to Friday’s Free-For-All #369 on Splitcoaststampers. The theme was Think Spring!
  2. Also adding this to Monday’s Challenge at Simon Says Stamp which was to use handmade flowers

Products used: (cardstock) MFT Smooth White, Daffodil, watercolor paper; (stamps) Technique Tuesday Crocus, Mama Elephant; ZIG Clear Color Brush Markers, Versamark, white embossing powder (Hero Arts), Memento Ink – Desert Sand

I’ve been incorporating cat and dog themes with some of the challenges I’ve been participating in because I’m preparing to send a stack of cards to a group that is collecting cards for animal shelters. Here’s a kitty card I made to fit SCS Color Challenge #626 (So Saffron, Cucumber Crush, Peekaboo Peach):

Kitty Color Challenge Products used: (cardstock) MFT Smooth White, Sour Apple, Chocolate Brown, misc. patterned paper, X-Press It Blending Card; (stamps) MFT; Copic markers, foam dimensionals, MFT die-namics, MFT Black Licorice hybrid ink, Wink of Stella

Thanks for checking out my cards. Have a great week!
