Challenge Posts

Greetings! I’ve got a few challenge cards completed this week. I would have done more if I had a little more time. I’ve got quite a few birthdays over the next two weeks so I’ve been making birthday cards and buying & wrapping presents. A few are for local friends and I’ve got twin nieces who are turning 8. They live in Colorado so I have to plan ahead to get their things mailed. I took the easy route this year and got them each a Visa gift card to buy whatever they’d like. I’m sure they’ll have fun shopping.  One of the cards I made this week is for Natalie’s birthday (one of the twins):

HB Natalie 8

I’m entering this in Simon Says Stamp’s Wednesday Challenge. This week Simon called for “cute” and the featured vendor is Wild Rose Studio. I think this card definitely fits the cute category. I mean all of the Pure Innocence girls are stinkin’ cute! The girl on the left was made into a mirror image so her back would be towards the girl holding the balloon. After coloring with Copic markers, I fussy cut them and adhered them to the card. Incidentally, the patterned paper in the background is by Wild Rose Studio (Bella Paper) – it’s the only thing I had by this vendor.

My second card combines two challenges:

  1. Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge “Young at Heart”
  2. Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge #621 which called for black, white, red

Love is in the Air

I used MFT cardstock in Smooth White, Red Hot and Black Licorice. The balloon and sentiment stamp is called Up in the Air by Clearly Besotted – it was stamped using MFT Black Licorice and Red Hot.

The Color Throwdown challenge (cdt429) this week was Black, Orange and Teal.

Here’s what I came up with for this challenge:

Color Throwdown 429

I used MFT cardstock in Smooth White and Black Licorice along with a strip from the Itsy Bitsy Polka Dot pad (also MFT).  Ink colors include MFT Black Licorice and Lush Lagoon and Hero Arts Tangerine. I did second generation stamping for the flowers and the leaves so I got a tone on tone effect. I used a die to cut the word hugs in the black cardstock and mounted it on white cardstock using it as a negative so the white base shows through. A little foam tape was added to some of the flowers to pop them up and give the card a little dimension.

My last challenge card of the week combined two more challenges:

  1. CAS-ual Fridays Color Challenge which called for pink, red and white
  2. Splitcoaststampers Free for All #364 which called for pink

Lick the Frosting

I was finished making Valentine cards last week so made a birthday card instead. I think I’ll be making more because I love the way it turned out. It’s so cute (if I do say so myself).  I used one of the [funny] sentiment lines from CAS-ual Fridays Shenanigans stamp set. I love that set – especially for humorous birthdays. The little plate and fork are [retired] dies from MFT. I used a Sizzix Nestabilities die for the placemat and I cut a little triangle  out of MFT Cotton Candy cardstock for the napkin.  I used stamps from MFT Abstract Art and Distressed Patterns stamp sets to create little chocolate cake crumbs and frosting smears on the plate. Isn’t it cute?? Looks just like crumbs, doesn’t it? Mmmmm.

Thanks for looking at my stuff. Until next time…
